Becoming well known as the St Tropez of South Africa Paternoster remains a charming old fishermen's village along the West Coast, just a casual 1,5 hours drive from the Northern suburbs of Cape Town, where past and present meet. In Latin Paternoster means 'Our Father'. Bare this peaceful feeling in mind and you will get to the right place for your choice of accommodation.
Enjoy bed and breakfast in the guesthouse Farr Out
The few minutes drive from Paternoster 'Center' to Farr Out is not what you would exactly call far. But when you arrive in this sandy bushveld wilderness, you do feel pleasingly remote. Crunching up the glinting shell pathway you can see across an indigenous garden and right out to sea. Catch the glimpse of the last manned lighthouse of South Africa situated in nearby Cape Columbine Nature Reserve or listen to the foghorn and cuddle up.

Arts and Crafts
Enjoy a tour through the expedition of Marion’s special art work at Farr Out. Black / White and Sepia photos with the theme currently "Namibia Desert" as well as "Shells and Beach of Paternoster/West Coast". "Paternoster bakkies" is in the pipeline. The artwork is printed and stretched on canvas frames (various sizes available up to A0). Every piece is unique as the artwork gets its individual touch with oil paint and some eco friendly natural medium. Appearances are deceptive ...
Farr Out is also supporting the community project KELP (Kelp Environmental Learning Project). Seaweed is turned into unique artwork and every single piece can be used as a Vuvuzela! Get your souvenir at Farr Out!
Bird lovers can purchase their birdfeeders here. Sit on the veranda and watch the birds close by. Much more is on offer at the little shop. Come and discover and choose your local souvenir.
Beach Buggy Trips
Experience an adrenalin rush with Deon on a beach buggy trip (more details on day trips) with a little wind in your hair, going out overlooking the dunes.
Wild life
Watch the variety of birds and get to know them. Bird lovers paradise, more than 225 different type of species. You might also be lucky to see the little Duiker or Steenbok early in the morning or late at night on the premises as it loves to nibble on our plants in the garden. Snakes also have been seen on occasions but this is very rare and special as usually the snakes disappear before the humans take note of it. Ever fed fish before? Our Kois are hand tame and love being fed! And of course you might see also our little ones: Duiker or Steenbok, mongoose, tortoise, Francolin, hare and more.
Eating
Have your own braai in our tepee like the Indians had it centuries ago. Or if you would like to spoil yourselves you can ask the hosts Marion and Deon to cook up a 3-course West Coast meal for you (minimum group of 4 requested). Enjoy later a sundowner in our state of the art Wigwam / Tepee.
Play Yard for children
Children won’t get bored in the huge play yard on site with swing, jungle gym and sand pit. Use at own risk.
Rainy days …
... are also covered, with a host of board games, including a much-loved thirty-year-old edition of German Monopoly. But remember there is no bad weather; just the person wearing the wrong clothes!
