Dukamenzi Lodge C.C. T/A Kwarush Guest House Kwa Rush, the biggest accommodation establishment in South African townships, is
situated in Umlazi, south of Durban. Umlazi is the second biggest township in South
Africa, after Soweto, if we take Soweto as a township. Kwa Rush is named after its
owner, the award winning Dr. Thulani Mkhize, popularly known as Rush. Hence Kwa
Rush, which means, Rush's residence. Rush, the first employee of the Kwa Zulu
Department of Education, to obtain a doctorate, is today, the only person who is still
banned, in South Africa. The nickname “Rush” has today become a brand name. Kwa
Rush is a must destination for people who wish to brush shoulders with local Black
middle class.
