The friendly town of Lutzville is situated 59km northwest of the national N7 road and is sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast and inland by the Olifants River. Following the R363 it is a mere 3 hours drive from the center of the Mother City. The small country hamlet of Koekenaap lies adjacent to Lutzville and is set in a patchwork landscape of farms. Koekenaap dates back to 1928 when farmers settled here on the banks of the Olifants River. As in Lutzville, the economy is based on farming produce such as grapes, tomatoes, beans, potatoes, wheat, beet, guavas, gem squashes and sheep. The Kliphuis Bushmen Cave is an archeological site.

The Friendly Town on the Atlantic
The friendly town of Lutzville, a mere 3 hours drive from Cape Town via the R363, is situated 59km northwest of the N7 and close to the Atlantic Ocean. One of the most amazing constructions is the Sishen Saldanha Railway Bridge that runs over the plains and which can be seen towering over the vines and fields for kilometres on end. Lutzville, previously known as Vlermuisklip, is sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast and by the Olifants River inland. The area used to be home to herds of elephants who would rub themselves against this rocky outcrop. The area is synonymous with quality wine and beautiful spring flowers.
