Pringle Bay is a somewhat sleepy seaside village, whose charm remains untouched. Situated along the scenic Clarence Drive Route (5 km past Rooiels) it forms part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. The area is renowned for its Indigenous Fynbos Flora and houses more plant species per square meter than anywhere else on the planet.

Also loved for its long and beautiful sandy beach, safe swimming and rolling waves, the bay is a favourite with Southern Right whales in the July-November whale-season!

Pringle Bay, was named after Rear Admiral Thomas Pringle in 1797. Archaeological evidence of the original inhabitants, the Khoi Khoi people, can still be seen. In the 18th century the mountain caves were the refuge of runaway slaves and during World War Two there was a radar station on the slopes of Hangklip, which was formerly known as ‘Cabo Falso’ (the ‘false cape’) because its resemblance to Cape Point sometimes prompted sailors from the east to turn north earlier than they should have done.

Pringle Bay is an amazing little sea-side village that is continuing to grow on a daily basis. With it being only about an hour’s drive from Cape Town, you will be far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city life, but close enough to civilisation for any type of emergency. With all the basic necessities available why wouldn’t you want to visit or stay in Pringle Bay.
