Graskop Mpumalanga Escarpment Information

Graskop has magnificent natural beauty and is much photographed. The town is the heart of tourism in this region and the gateway to the Panorama route. It is situated on the edge of the Drakensberg mountains escarpment.

Many activities are available here and it is an ideal place for easy access to The Blyde River Canyon(3rd largest canyon in the world) God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. It is the centre of the timber industry and was established in 1843 with the arrival of the Voortrekkers.

"Jock of the Bushveld" was set here(1885-1887) Jock, a Staffordshire Bull Terrior, was the loyal friend of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick. He was the runt of the litter and showed his appreciation through his unending loyalty.

The town is world renowned for the pancake houses and coffee shops it has.
