Phalaborwa was established in 1958 after the discovery of huge mineral deposits, and is the central gateway to the Kruger National Park via the Phalaborwa Gate.

The Town is dubbed “town of two summers” as it never gets cold in this subtropical area, with mild winters and very warm summers It is a great tourist town with many game farms and nature reserves not further than half-an-hour’s drive away. It is within walking distance to the Kurger Park which makes it an ideal base for day trips into the Park . The town also boasts one of the world's largest man-made holes, the open-cast copper mine of 2 km in diameter and is 762m deep and can beseen from outer space. It has become a unique tourist attraction.

GIYANI

Giyani, the former capital of the old Gazankulu Bantustan, is in the heart of Limpopo Bushveld on the banks of the Klein Letaba River west of Kruger National Park. Giyani was established in the 1960s as the administrative centre for the Tsonga people. Giyani is now the administrative capital of Mopani District Municipality. Giyani’s ecomony consists of agricultural, meaiies, peanuts, tomatoes, potatoes with bananas and cattle ranching the important ones. Giyani has become a retail and entertainment centre for the local Tsongas. It has modern shopping centres and a mini mall. uplifted the local economy. The Spar group has the biggest Spar stores in South Africa in Giyani.

Giyani's is located in the Bushveld and many foreign and local visitors come to this area on vacation. Apart from golfing, the Giyani Golf course is home to Zebras, Girraffe, bushbuck and other small game. Man'ombe Nature Reserve is found 6 km east of Giyani.
